Last Saturday Wheeler Paul Heggie ride in the Vive le Velo 10 mile Open Time Trial at Giberdyke.
On a very hot day Heggie finished in 25m 55s, a personal best for the course, placing 53rd overall and 10th of 15 in the 60-69 age group. Josie Smith of Barnsley Road Club was fastest woman in 23m 45s.

Tuesday saw the first of the club’s time trials where 9 riders completed 5 laps of a 3 mile circuit at Thurnscoe. Fastest on the night was visitor Martin Nelson in 37m 18s closely followed by Wheeler Dan Taylor in 38m 34s.

The second of four events is at 7pm on Tuesday at Barrowfield Road Thurnscoe. Visitors are welcome.
Four club members are currently completing the iconic North Coast 500 ride around the north of Scotland. Day 1 last Saturday saw Dave Hudson, Rob Parkes, Mark Peasegood and Austin Watson ride 65 miles from Inverness to Locharron climbing 2000 feet. Day 2 took the four 80 miles from Lochcarron to Gairloch , over the Bealach na Ba, one of the hardest climbs in the UK, climbing over 6000 feet in the day. Day 3 saw the four ride a further 85 miles from Gairloch to Lochinver again climbing over 6000 feet in the day. Day 4 was 60 miles of climbing and descending with barely a mile of flat road between Lochinver and Durness.
Following the easing of Covid rules the club is now meeting for the Sunday rides at Brewers Fayre roundabout, Wombwell at 9am. Visitors are welcome. This Sunday’s ride is to Misterton. Check the club’s Facebook page https://tinyurl.com/BW-FB-page for last minute changes.
