Last Sunday Wheeler Paul Heggie rode in the Vive le Velo 10 mile Open Time Trial at Market Weighton.

On a pleasant almost windless day, Heggie finished in 24m 58s, a new club age record at 67 years old, eclipsing his own time at 65 years old by 11 seconds. His time placed him 35th and 4th of 7 in the 60-69 age group.

The previous Wednesday evening John Woodhouse rode in the Bolsover & District CC 10 mile Open Time Trial at Cuckney. His time of 25m 49s placed him 30th of 43 riders.

Tuesday saw the second of the club’s time trials where 3 riders completed 5 laps of a 3 mile circuit at Thurnscoe. Fastest on the night was Trevor Mayne in 42m 29s. 2nd was John Woodhouse in 45m 45s and 3rd was Paul Heggie in 50m 30s.

The third of four events is at 7pm on Tuesday at Barrowfield Road Thurnscoe. Visitors are welcome.

Four club members are completed the iconic North Coast 500 ride around the north of Scotland. The quartet of Dave Hudson, Rob Parkes, Marc Peasegood and Austin Watson rode 600 miles in 8 days climbing 40 000 feet in the process in a clockwise route starting and finishing in Inverness.

Following the easing of Covid rules the club is now meeting for the Sunday rides at Brewers Fayre roundabout, Wombwell at 9am. Visitors are welcome. This Sunday’s ride is to Knaresborough. Check the club’s Facebook page https://tinyurl.com/BW-FB-page for last minute changes.
