Last Saturday Birdwell Wheeler Trevor Mayne rode in the Welsh Cycling Association's 50-mile time trial at Abergavenny. After a summer in which he was short of much racing, Mayne felt he was going well at the 35-mile point but by 40 miles the lack of competitive action began to show and he struggled to complete the final 5 miles. He finished in 2h 04m 05s which put him in 29th place and second veteran over 60 years of age. His time was the fastest by a club member this year and so receives the Hoyland Nether Cup.
