Last Sunday saw the sixth running of Birdwell Wheeler’s Audax event. The 65 mile route took in climbs of Holme Moss, the Snake pass and Jawbone Hill at Oughtibridge, a climb which featured when the Tour de France started in Yorkshire.

47 riders set of from Birdwell Community Centre in the sunshine. Wheelers Trevor Mayne, Rob Parkes, Austin Watson, Marc Peasgood, Chris Jenkins, Steve Myatt & Phil Adams were joined by riders from as far afield as Lincoln and Tamworth. The first rider back in 4hours 20 mins was Mark Hudson from Sheffield and all riders returned by 4 o’clock well within the cut off time of 17:55.

The club’s 5 mile time trial championship is this Tuesday at 7pm on Park Springs Road. Visitors are welcome.

The Sunday club run leaves Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9am.

Again visitors are welcome.
