On Sunday Dave Scargill rode his last road race of the season in the LVRC (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists-for over 40’s) Kenilworth Wheelers 48 mile event in Warwickshire on a testing circuit with a few steep hills made worse with the heavy rain. Over the 6 laps Scargill tried with others more than once to form a break but the bunch brought them back every time. The finish was uphill with a sharp corner at the top and Scargill was first to the top but was beaten in the sprint by a couple of metres and finished second.
Also on Sunday Dan Emery rode his 3rd Open hill climb of the year. On the short 400 metre climb of Mill Lee Lane near Bradfield with an average gradient of 11% his time of 1m 12.8s placed him 21st overall and 6th in his age category.
