Last Wednesday the middle of the Peak District was the setting for Birdwell Wheelers Dave Jarvis and Trevor Mayne's latest Open Time Trial. The Peak Road Club's hilly 17-mile event took in a big loop around Longstone Edge. Riding in the standard road bike category in warm evening temperatures Mayne recorded 51m 25s placing 20th of 40 riders and Jarvis finished in 52m 55s placing 26th. Jarvis beat his personal best time on the course by 54 seconds.

On Tuesday in the 3rd of 4 15 mile club Time Trials at Thurnscoe visitor Martin Nelson, fastest in week 1, repeated the feat with a time of 38m 02s. Runner up was ex-Birdwell member Andy Cutts in 39m 13s and third was fastest Wheeler Dan Emery in 41m 37s.

Following the easing of Covid rules the club is now meeting for the Sunday rides at Brewers Fayre roundabout, Wombwell at 9am. Visitors are welcome.
