Last Sunday saw 14 riders set off from Wombwell on the Anthony Lodge Memorial Bike Ride to Cusworth Hall and back on the Trans Pennine Trail. Tony was a popular and well-respected member of Birdwell Wheelers who sadly passed away suddenly 12 months ago while out riding his bike. The event was organised by his son Nathan Lodge in remembrance of his father. All 14 riders completed the 30 mile ride successfully.

Tuesday saw the 4th of Birdwell’s 5 mile Time Trials at Thurgoland. On a cool but still evening five Wheelers competed with Trevor Mayne the fastest on the night in 13m 31s less than a minute ahead of Marc Peasegood in 14m 23s. Other times were:
John Woodhouse 16m 19s Austin Watson 16m 48s and Paul Heggie 16m 55s
The 5th of Birdwell’s 5 mile club time trials is on Tuesday June 13th . Visitors welcome. First rider off at 19:00. Signing on just out of Thurgoland towards Hoylandswaine.
Sunday’s club ride meets at 9am at Brewers Fayre Wombwell. Visitors are welcome.
